Course Information
At Pacific University, all faculty teach a variety of different courses. Typically we do not use graduate teaching assistants, which means that your classes will be taught by professors and that you will have plenty of opportunity to get to know the faculty in your discipline.
Listed below are some of the courses that I teach. We are always developing new classes and cycling in a variety of electives, so the list may occasionally change.
PH 101 | Public Health 101
PH 325 | Global Health
PH 310 | Social Foundations of Population Health
PH 380 | Practicum
PH 491/492 | Senior Capstone
Areas of Research & Specialization
My research is concerned with strengthening health systems in low and middle income countries so that they reflect the priorities and needs of the local communities they serve. I center my analysis around the ways in which health inequities reflect disparities in power and decision-making, as well as how social, political, and economic factors affect health status. My particular area of focus is on advancing methods that may be used to support greater community participation in, and ideally ownership of, health policymaking.
