Dr. Robert Nee Publishes Study on Nerve Mechanosensitivity in Breast Cancer Survivors

Physical Therapy Professor Dr. Robert Nee recently published a study titled “Protective myoelectric activity at performing upper limb neurodynamic test 1 in breast cancer survivors. A cross-sectional observational study” in the journal Musculoskeletal Science and Practice. Because of his expertise in neurodynamics, Dr. Nee was invited to join an interprofessional group of researchers, educators, and clinicians from Spain.  Authors included physical therapists, a physician, and a biostatistician.  Their study found that increased upper limb nerve mechanosensitivity identified during upper limb neurodynamic testing was associated with an increased protective muscle response in participants after breast cancer surgery. These findings have implications for the post-surgical examination of upper limb nerve mechanosensitivity in breast cancer survivors.
