Tzurei Chen, PT, Ph.D. joins Physical Therapy Faculty
The School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training welcomes its newest faculty member Tzurei Chen. Dr. Chen received her Master and PhD degrees in biomechanics from the University of Oregon.
She also completed fellowship training through ASSE Foundation for the safety research fellowship program at the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety. She received her Bachelor degree in physical therapy from the National Yang Ming University (Taipei, Taiwan) and worked as a physical therapist at the Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan. Her teaching responsibilities are related to geriatric, neurologic, and amputation rehabilitation. Her research interests include biomechanics, motion analysis, fall prevention and balance control in older adults. Her past and current research projects related to geriatric population include quantifying muscle activities using electromyography, balance control during transitional tasks, prospective fall predictions and balance training. In addition to her commitment to achieving excellence in teaching and research, Tzurei remains actively engaged in patient care.
