Lisa Downing has been appointed as the Director of Clinical Education Compliance in the College of Health Professions as of July 1, 2017. Ms. Downing has served as the Continuing Education Coordinator for the college since 2012, and has built that program from the ground up to include 30 to 40 continuing education events annually that comply with state and national licensure and certification requirements for numerous healthcare professions.
Prior to joining Pacific University as the Continuing Education Coordinator for the college, Lisa worked in hospital admissions, management, medical records and geriatric psychiatry as well as social work and clinical education in long-term care. She earned an associate of applied science degree in accounting from Matanuska Susitna Community College in Alaska and a bachelor’s degree in business management and communication from Concordia University in Portland. She is actively involved in many Pacific University committees and initiatives, including currently serving as chair of the Pacific University Staff Senate.
The Director of Clinical Education Compliance position will be responsible for the oversight of clinical education requirements, including monitoring, analysis, interpretation and compliance with relevant State and Federal regulations and providing support to faculty and staff within the schools who have responsibilities for clinical education regarding matters of common need and interest for all CHP and health professions programs. This is a new position that will serve all of CHP, so it will optimize our efforts and collaboration. The director will also serve as the Privacy Officer, including overseeing all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and access to patient health information, working with Healthcare Clinic Operations and Compliance Committee and acting as a liaison to the Clinical Coordinators Committee.
I am delighted to welcome Lisa to her new role in the College of Health Professions, and I look forward to the expertise and innovation she will bring to supporting the Clinical Education enterprise across all of the CHP schools and programs. Please join me in welcoming Lisa to her new role as the Director of Clinical Education Compliance.
