Alumna's Documentary Featured in Upcoming Showings

Melissa Lowery '10 created Black Girl in Suburbia to start a conversation about the experiences of African-American women living in predominantly white suburban communities, like the one she grew up in outside Portland. The documentary has caught fire in the Portland area, screening at schools and colleges, film festivals and more. Catch an upcoming screening during Black History Month:

Pacific University is collaborating with Forest Theater in Forest Grove to show four films as part of a Black History Month film series. Three of the four films will screen at Forest Theater for $5 for the public and free for Pacific students and employees. Lowery's Black Girl in Suburbia, meanwhile, will show in the Taylor Auditorium in Pacific's Marsh Hall, for free.
