Counseling Appointments

To schedule an appointment call the Student Counseling Center at 503-352-2191 (press 1 for the front desk) or send an email to counselingcenter@pacificu.edu. We are providing both in-person and teletherapy services. For teletherapy appointments, the student must be physically located in the state of Oregon due to licensing regulations.

In case of a mental health emergency or for immediate assistance with mental health concerns, please call our 24/7 Support and Crisis Line at 503-352-2999 or the Washington County Crisis line at 503-291-9111.

We also offer "walk-in" Monday through Friday at noon for students with urgent concerns to speak with a counselor. Call or email by noon to arrange your appointment.

The Student Counseling Center will be closed for the holiday break December 14 through January 1. Both clinics will reopen Thursday, January 2.

Your First Appointment

At the first appointment, referred to as an Initial Consultation, students are asked to complete intake paperwork (see sample below). During the initial consultation, the counselor will talk with you to clarify your concerns and determine the options available to you. The options may include a follow-up consultation, a referral to group therapy, meeting with a SCC counselor for short-term therapy, or an off-campus referral. We strive to serve as many students as possible and are not able to provide long-term and comprehensive psychological services. When our staff determine that your needs fall outside of our scope of practice, the counselor will facilitate a referral to mental health services in the community. If it is determined that you could benefit from short-term individual therapy, you will be assigned to a counselor after the initial consultation based on matching availability, therapeutic needs, and when possible client preferences.

Forms

You will receive an email the morning of your initial consultation appointment with a link to complete web-based forms prior to your appointment.  Below is a copy of the web-based form for your reference only.
