Pacific University marks Indigneous Peoples Month this November with a series of events on its campuses and in the community. You are invited to join us in learning more about the cultures and experiences of native peoples in our area historically and throughout the world.

Student Rachel Araiza
Research is like a puzzle for Rachel Araiza ’22. “I like trying to figure out what’s going on and being the first to figure it out,” said Araiza. A love of the outdoors and biology led her to the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove to examine the eating habits of the bullfrogs that live in the wetlands.
Professor emeritus Dr. Hannu Laukkanen recently published an article about neurorehab as a specialty.

Center for Civic Engagement
Pacific University's McCall Center for Civic Engagement, in conjunction with Oregon Humanities, has drawn attention for guiding public discussions on topics of common interest, such as last month's forum on "What does it mean to be an American?"
Cool
Steven James Cool, former Pacific professor, died August 1, 2019 at age 78. He joined Pacific's College of Optometry in 1979. Cool was loved by many for his ability to share knowledge in a way that encouraged learners to see things in a different light and that pushed students out of the dull glare of rote learning into that charged light of discovery.
