The new endowed scholarship adds to a legacy of support from the Rotary Club, which has previously provided scholarships for more than 100 students to attend Pacific.

Donors are instrumental in supporting the work of Pacific University. Generous supporters contribute to scholarships, fund faculty positions, enhance cocurricular opportunities, and grow Pacific’s four campuses through capital campaigns. Pacific recognizes its most generous donors with membership in the 1849 Society, honoring those who have contributed at least $1 million, and the President’s Circle, honoring those who have given at least $100,000.
The grants support a scholarship for undergraduate students, as well as the replacement and expansion of the College of Optometry's mobile eye care unit.
"There are people there who are willing to support you and help your dreams come true," says Mai Vo, a Vietnam-born student who dreams of becoming a pharmacist.
James Ogden '72, OD '73 lent his nickname to a scholarship for Pacific University optometry students. He gives even more, though, as a mentor to the recipients of that scholarship.
