Two Pacific alumni found each other — and a shared love of education — in Pacific's Master of Arts in Teaching Program.

Fourteen members of the extended Smith family have attended Pacific University over three generations. The Boxer Spirit is in their blood.

"The program really just prepares you for the day-to-day challenges of the classroom," said Pacific University alumna Becky Tengs '08, now a teacher at the Forest Grove Community School.
The award will help the university finance a collaborative project to enhance STEM education in six area school districts, including Salem-Keizer, Tigard-Tualatin and Woodburn.
Ralph Watkins '08 is a free spirit. Most recently, his wandering feet and Pacific University teaching degree took him to Shishmaref, Alaska, where he's principal of a small preK-12 school.
"I wouldn't be in the place I am if it wasn't for them," says Clint Rodreick '06, MAT '08.

The grant will fund the second phase of the highly successful Noyce Scholarship program for aspiring teachers.
