Voyages Seeking Faculty and Staff Participation

Outdoor Pursuits is seeking faculty and staff to participate in Voyages 2023 — Pacific's five-day pre-orientation outdoor experience for incoming students.

Voyages are pre-orientation outdoor adventures for incoming students. Mainly student-led, these five-day trips are designed for new students to make friends, develop community, experience the Pacific Northwest, and shake off nerves before starting their career at the university.

One element that makes Voyages unique is that faculty or staff members join each Voyage as a participant. The purpose is to connect our academic and administrative professionals with new students on a human level, and of course, to have a blast outdoors!

No experience is necessary and most faculty and staff are typically not responsible for managing risk or supervising students in the field. Simply bring your willingness to be yourself and to spend five days in nature with the students that you serve!

All faculty and staff who participate will receive a small $300 stipend as a “thank you” for your time commitment. Please visit our Voyages website to learn more about the different multi-day trips we offer that will take place between August 19-23, 2023.
