Tim Tran '74 Wins Award for Memoir
Tim (Khiem) Tran '74 won the 2020 Best Indie Book Award for his memoir, American Dreamer –How I Escaped Communist Vietnam and Built a Successful Life in America. The book highlights the hope America represented for him throughout his life, from gaining an education to ultimately achieving democratic freedom.
"This recognition makes me excited and very happy," said Tran. "I would like to add that without the support of President Hallick, Dean of University Libraries Isaac Gilman, and the Pacific University community, this recognition would not be possible."
The Best Indie Book Award™ (BIBA) is an international literary award contest recognizing independent authors. Entries are limited to independently published books, including those from small presses, e-book publishers, and self-published authors.
