School of Pharmacy Student Receives the USPHS Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Practice Award
The School of Pharmacy is excited to announce that second-year student Mary Heiken received the USPHS Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Practice Award. This national award recognizes pharmacy students who are committed to improving and promoting public health.
Mary’s dedication to community service was evident by her passion to organize and lead an Interprofessional Health Fair on February 28, 2015. The services offered at the Health Fair included measuring: blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, function movement, memory for adults, vision, hearing, BMI and providing educational activities for children and families.
The organization of this Health Fair took a tremendous amount of time and energy and, in partnership with the Tuality Healthcare system; more than 60 volunteers participated in this event, many who are students from the College of Health Professions and the College of Optometry.
