School of Pharmacy Recognized by AACP Academic Pharmacy Community Peers as Award Winner
On Monday, June 17, 2024, Pacific University School of Pharmacy was presented with the Innovations in Administrative Practice Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Administrative Services Section during the virtual business meeting. This award was received in recognition of the School’s newly developed and ACPE (Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education) approved/accredited 5-year extended PharmD pathway program. The physical award will be received in July during the AACP Annual Meeting in Boston, MA.
The 5-year doctor of pharmacy program (PharmD) at Pacific University is the only on-campus, extended PharmD pathway in the United States. At Pacific, we know students have diverse educational needs and busy lives. This innovative and flexible approach makes earning a PharmD accessible to students who otherwise may not be able to consider a full-time pharmacy doctorate.
The curriculum and also its structure are designed to allow incoming students to be able to work all year around during the first 4 didactic years, up to 32 hours/week, so that they can continue to earn income and maintain health insurance and benefits. Altogether, this unique 5-year extended PharmD pathway will enable students to support their families and be less reliant on student loans.
This award is a testament of the hard work and dedication of our School’s community and the School’s continued innovation, creativity and vision in developing the 5-year extended PharmD pathway program.
