School of Pharmacy Associate Professor Fawzy Elbarbry and Post-Doctorate Fellow Khaled Abdelkawy Publish Article

The School of Pharmacy is pleased to announce that Associate Professor Fawzy Elbarbry and Post-Doctorate Fellow Khaled Abdelkawy have published an article with Ahmed M. Donia of Tanta University in Egypt in the European Journal of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics.  The article, entitled "Effects of Grapefruit and Pomegranate Juices on the Pharmacokinetic Properties of Dapoxetine and Midazolam in Healthy Subjects", showed that consumption of grapefruit juice increases the absorption of drug dapoxetine into the body while consumption of pomegranite juice does not, and that therefore patients taking dapoxetine should exercise caution when drinking grapefruit juice.  The authors also received assistance from School of Pharmacy faculty Ryan Gibbard and Marina Suzuki in the review of the article.  A summary of the article is available online.
