Richard Rowland '74 Builds Community Over Clay
Richard Rowland '74 is well-known in his community for building a safe and healthy space through the art of ceramics. After receiving his bachelor's in ceramics, Rowland traveled the world before settling in Astoria, Ore. There, Rowland has taken place in a bowl-making project for women's resource centers, donating bowls to help raise funds. Rowland also provides handmade coffee mugs to cancer patients at both Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria and OHSU. Anywhere from 300-500 mugs are made for the patients every year.
