Research Isn’t Just for the ‘Sciences’
Students in all undergraduate majors at Pacific participate in disciplinary research and/or creative work — not just the ‘science’ majors.
What does research or creative work look like in your discipline? What professional and career opportunities at Pacific and beyond can research or creative work open for you? Learn the answers to these questions and more at the Undergraduate Research Conference.
On Tuesday, Nov. 13 in the MPR, the conference starts at 4:30 p.m. with a panel of Pacific alumni who will speak and answer questions about their paths from Pacific to a career. At 5:30, we reset the room and Pacific students who participated in research or creative work this past summer take the floor for a poster session. Students will present their research work in arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and pharmacy. These students have worked at the Forest Grove and Hillsboro campuses, as well as in research positions outside of Pacific.
If have not already submitted for the conference and you would like to present your research work in a poster, there’s still time. Poster titles for the conference can be submitted until Nov. 5 here. Talk with your research mentor about submitting.
Whether or not you have participated in research, consider attending to see the work of your peers and learn more about Research @ Pacific.
The poster session runs from 5:30-7:30, including awards at the conclusion for the best posters in each disciplinary area. There will be food for a light dinner and some deserts. And if you stay for the entire conference you will be included in a drawing for five Barnes & Noble gift cards.
