Registration for the Online Spanish Healthcare Interpreter Program is Open

Physician and Spanish healthcare interpreter talking with a patient.

The School of Healthcare Administration and Leadership is excited to offer a fully-online Spanish Healthcare Interpreter training program beginning this fall.  The program is an innovative online professional training opportunity for community members who are fluent in both English and Spanish to become qualified healthcare interpreters in Spanish in the state of Oregon.  The training program is a 64-hour program delivered in a synchronous online format using Zoom.  The program is specifically designed for working professionals and is taught in four-hour online sessions on Saturday mornings over the course of 16 weeks.

Please note that participants will not receive any form of academic credit from Pacific University for this training opportunity.  The training program is considered a professional training opportunity facilitated by the School of Healthcare Administration and Leadership, and participants who successfully complete the training program will be issued a certificate of completion directly from Bridging the Gap (BTG), who created the curriculum used for the program.  This certificate satisfies the documentation requirement of completion of an OHA-approved training program, which allows the participant to apply for the Qualified Interpreter credential in Oregon or to take the certification exam if a participant wants to become Certified in Oregon.

Please find more information regarding the Oregon Healthcare Interpreter requirements here.

For application criteria and fee information, please visit the Spanish Healthcare Interpreter Program website.   If Pacific staff or faculty members are interested in participating in the training this fall, employee group discounts are available.  Please contact Amber Vanzant, the program administrator for the School of Healthcare Administration and Leadership if you have any questions about the program or if your team is interested in the employee group discount.
