Rain or Shine: Pacific Produces Outdoor Theatre with Alice Birch's Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again.
Pacific University’s Department of Theatre & Dance presents Alice Birch’s darkly funny and dreamlike play, Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again., performing March 11-14 outdoors on the Forest Grove Campus.
Live theatre looks very different than it did even just a year ago. Many theatre productions have had to reformat their performances to online streams, as Pacific did with their fall show, The Typographer’s Dream. However, with the weather and infection rates improving, the Department of Theatre & Dance has decided to try a different avenue of safe, accessible theatre: outdoor performances on the Forest Grove campus.
Crafting a show for the outdoors is no easy task, notwithstanding the added challenges of doing so in the age of COVID. Technical director Tal Sanders has the job of rigging lighting and sound for not just one, but multiple outdoor performance spaces across Pacific’s Forest Grove Campus. This production is unique in that it does not stay still—actors will transition from scene to scene, not just in the text, but in the very location they perform in. Audiences are taken on a weird and wonderful journey, following these characters as they take over different spots on campus and transform them into places of play before their very eyes. In Pacific’s Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again., all the world really is a stage.
This show features the incredible student talent of Abby Weinman, Elle Cordima, Maggie Trettin, Leiana Petlewski, Emily Smith, Dawson Olive, and Taylor Hammers.
Admission is free, but tickets are required to attend this show. All audience members must be students or employees of Pacific University. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no external guest are allowed on campus, and all attendees must wear masks and practice physical distancing. Members of the COVID-19 Response Team will be present during every show to provide hand sanitizer and ensure physical distance is maintained.
Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. by Alice Birch will have four performances at Pacific University’s Forest Grove Campus, running Thursday through Sunday, March 11-14, at 7:30 p.m. Check in starts at 7 p.m. on the UC patio.
