Physician Assistant Student David Bull Honored by Local Medical Society
Pacific University physician assistant student David Bull '16 has been named the inaugural recipient of the Medical Society of Metropolitan Portland's Student Award. Bull received the honor on May 5 during the society's 131st annual meeting held at the Multnomah Athletic Club.
The honor pays tribute to a student who embodies MSMP's mission to create the best environment in which to care for patients. It is bestowed upon "someone who displays professional knowledge, skill, judgment, mentorship, compassion and community involvement, and who strives for wellness in order to meet the highest standards of service," the award criteria states.
PA Studies faculty, staff and students nominated Bull, who currently co-chairs the school's Community Service Committee and is also active in the Washington County Project Homeless Connect program. Other causes he is interested in include animal welfare and disaster and humanitarian relief among others.
Bull has an extensive background in public safety, including a 17-year stint as an officer at Wheaton College in Illinois, where some of his responsibilities included patrol, emergency and non-emergency response for medical, fire and criminal incidents and administration of the department's dispatch system.
Located with Pacific's College of Health Professions, the School of Physician Assistant Studies prepares and mentors students within an innovative curriculum to provide quality care for a diverse global community focusing on primary care for underserved and rural populations.
