To ensure Pacific’s high quality, Pacific undergoes external review every seven years by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). This year is Pacific’s review year. Upon successful review, the NWCCU re-accredits Pacific, which also preserves Pacific students’ eligibility for federal financial aid.
As part of that re-accreditation process, an NWCCU evaluation team will be on campus Oct. 4 to 6, evaluating how well Pacific complies with a set of defined standards and delivers on its university mission.
What is Pacific’s mission? “A diverse and sustainable community dedicated to discovery and excellence in teaching, scholarship and practice, Pacific University inspires students to think, care, create, and pursue justice in our world.”
- Student Forum (undergraduate and graduate), Oct. 5, 11 a.m., Washburne Hall, MPR
The forum is open to undergraduate and graduate/professional students. Coming from Hillsboro and need a ride? Email kimg@pacificu.edu to sign up for a shuttle ride between the campuses.
What will evaluators want to know? Evaluators may ask, does Pacific’s mission statement describe your experience of Pacific? What do you appreciate about being a Pacific student? Do you feel supported? Does Pacific strive to support equity and inclusion? Do you see Pacific as committed to improvement? What could Pacific do better?
To preserve student confidentiality, no recordings or photos will be allowed. And to help students carve out this time, pizza will be served.
