Pacific University Classes, Events Move Online Because of Smoky Air
All Pacific University activities for the evening of Thursday, Sept. 10 and all of Friday, Sept. 11 are being moved online in light of the severely degraded air quality from the region’s wildfires.
Smoke from the fires has raised air pollution levels in much of the state to levels deemed to be unhealthy. University leaders have agreed that classes, scheduled events and all other activities should occur online until conditions improve.
Classes will occur online Friday on the Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Eugene and Woodburn campuses. The Early Learning Community in Forest Grove will also meet online.
Graduate and professional students should contact their programs, as some activities may have to be rescheduled.
Dining Services in Forest Grove will offer brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. The Market is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Starbucks will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Food service in Hillsboro will be closed Friday.
Pacific clinics throughout the region also are closed for in-person visits. Telehealth visits will be available at clinics that offer them.
