Pacific Plans for Fall In Person
Pacific University looks forward to welcoming students back on campus for in-person instruction in Fall 2021.
While we expect to receive additional guidance for fall planning from the Higher Education Coordinating Committee in the coming weeks, we are planning for a more typical in-person experience for students this fall.
A critical step in this planning is widespread vaccination. Pacific has been fortunate to partner with public health agencies to offer large vaccination clinic for our faculty, staff and students, as well as the broader community.
Our goal is get vaccines to all employees and students by the end of the academic year. All students and employees are invited to participate in a vaccine clinic this weekend. Students and employees can find details by email.
Over the coming months, we will be working to adapt precautions to allow us to return in the fall. This will include requiring COVID-19 vaccination for students and employees, with minimal exemption options, starting this fall. Please watch for details soon. We also will gradually increase on-campus activities, especially around student recruitment, as guidelines allow.
But it remains crucial that we also continue to proceed with caution — at Pacific and in the community at large — until we can reach herd immunity. Many communities in the U.S. have seen a recent spike in cases, largely due to a combination of variants of the virus and people relaxing their precautions.
We appreciate your continued effort to follow public health guidance by avoiding large gatherings, wearing masks, and practicing physical distancing. These steps, coupled with participation in vaccination, are what will get us back to campus by fall.
