Pacific Mourns Passing Of Professor Emeritus Ed Collier
Pacific University is saddened to announce the passing of Professor Emeritus of Theatre Ed Collier on June 27, 2024. Collier was 82 years old.
Collier led the theatre department at Pacific from 1978 to 2004. During that time, Collier directed over 75 productions. He also taught film and acting at Portland State University. Prior to his work at Pacific and Portland State, Collier taught theater at Clatsop Community College.
Collier was a longtime fixture in the acting scene in both the Portland and Seattle areas. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists for 56 years. He has numerous stage and screen acting credits.
For longtime Pacific Northwest residents, Collier may be best known for his 18 years as spokesperson for the G.I. Joe’s Sports & Auto Store chain in the 1980s and 1990s.
Collier is survived by his wife, Sarah; children Jenn Sharp, Mitch Collier and Ann Rigney; their spouses, and seven grandchildren.
