Pacific Military and Veteran Services to Co-Sponsor the Oregon Army National Guard Mobilization Ceremony

The Military and Veteran Services Office (MVS), in collaboration with the Oregon Army National Guard and a coalition of local businesses, organizations, veterans, family, friends, and supporters of the military and veteran community, will be hosting a send-off event and mobilization ceremony on August 9, 2024 for the 2nd Battalion, 218th Field Artillery Regiment.

A mobilization ceremony for the Army National Guard is a formal event that marks the deployment of a unit. This ceremony is an important tradition that acknowledges the commitment and sacrifice of the soldiers and their families. The mobilization ceremony serves as a formal farewell to the deploying soldiers and a show of support from the community and the nation. It underscores the significance of their mission and reinforces the bonds between the military and civilian communities.

Prior to the mobilization ceremony, the send-off event is designed to provide an environment of support and appreciation for the soldiers and their families as they prepare to leave the following day. This event will offer a fun atmosphere where attendees can enjoy time with their community, family, and friends. It will include food, live music, entertainment, activities, and swag/freebies for the families.

It is important to note that this event is not intended for distributing resources or advertising/marketing groups or organizations unless it directly relates to the deployment and supports the families while their soldiers are away. The focus should remain on the significance of this day for the soldiers and their families as they deploy the following day. Emotions will be high, and this event is meant to give them a few hours to enjoy and share time with their community. This is sponsored by the ad-hoc community group that has recently formed.

  • Please note this event is not open to the general public without an invitation by the Command Group or a Soldier deploying
  • A live stream of the event will be posted on the MVS website at pacificu.edu/mvs
  • Media will be onsite at the event
