Pacific Hosts Girls Engineering Camp
The Pacific University Center for Gender Equity will host a Girls Engineering Camp June 20 to 24 on the Forest Grove Campus.
The camp will provide girls ages 8 to 12 with an opportunity to learn some basics of engineering. Participants will work with the staff of the CGE, as well as ChickTech, a Portland-based organization that offers hands-on workshops, mentoring and community encouragement to help young women build confidence and recognize and celebrate their potentials.
Each day, the girls will be involved in a variety of projects with take-home results, including explorations of soft circuits and 3D printing.
The camp meets daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 20 to 24, and culminates with a parents' reception at 2 p.m. Friday, June 24, in the Marsh Hall lobby.
Cost is $120, and daily lunch is included. Space is limited to 20 participants.
