Pacific Hall Update | Week of Dec. 4

December is the final full month of the construction phase for the Pacific Hall project. Over the next few weeks, finish activities will begin to wrap up around the building as the team targets the third week of December to complete punch walks in all four zones to review finished work.

Any corrective work and the final few construction activities will take place during the final week of December and into the first week of January. Spaces will begin to be turned over to the owner project team toward the end of the first week and into the second week of January to complete new furniture and AV install and will begin to become ready for faculty and staff to move in middle part of January. Exact dates for each space and group are still being determined.

Upstairs, finish sequences are moving into the later stages, with carpets and storefronts being installed throughout the week of Nov. 27 and into the week of Dec. 4. Lightwerks is finishing their above-ceiling AV work in the early part of this week ahead of ceiling tile install, which will take place over the course of the week. Final finishes and accessories will begin going in towards the end of this week before final cleaning begins the week of Dec. 11.

Downstairs, painting will continue through the better part of this week, while rough cleaning gets underway in painted spaces. Ceiling tiles, flooring, and remaining MEPF trim will be installed. Final cleaning is set to begin on Level 1 by Dec. 8.

Punch walks for both levels are scheduled for the week of Dec. 18. At the building’s exterior, painting is scheduled to wrap up on the west face during the early part of the week of Dec. 4. Brick seal is ongoing, with a target completion date by Dec.8.

Move transition activities are beginning this week, with the UIS team in to begin reconnecting the wireless access points and installing mounts for classroom monitors. Lightwerks will also be on-site installing overhead equipment and hanging monitor mounts in the new spaces. Full AV connection for both new and existing spaces will take place in early January.

Walsh will begin to assist with cleaning and moving some of the furniture stored in the building back into place as they perform final cleaning in the next few weeks. Full furniture moving will take place in January, with existing furniture being moved back into the building in the second week of January, and new furniture being installed the following week of Jan. 15.

We are currently targeting final cleaning and faculty and staff move-in during the last two weeks of January.

As a whole, the project remains on schedule for substantial completion by Jan. 10, 2024 and for reopening on Jan. 29, 2024.
