Our Reunion is Fast Approaching | Class of 1965
The Pacific University Class of 1965's 50th reunion is fast approaching. In fact, it is less than 4 months away. Once again, we will have the opportunity to reconnect with classmates which, in some cases, we have not seen since 1965. We sincerely hope you are planning to attend this momentous reunion October 2-4. More information regarding registration and other details will be available this summer on the Homecoming 2015 webpage. You may not be aware that football has returned to Pacific University. This year’s Boxers will be facing the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes from Tacoma.
Four years ago, the Class of 1965 Reunion Committee decided to establish an endowed Class of 1965 Scholarship Fund as an enduring legacy to benefit and support sophomore Arts and Sciences students who demonstrate both academic competence and financial need. Since that time, the Class of 1965 has been regularly solicited and many of you have liberally contributed. Our ambitious goal is to raise $65,000 in honor of the class of 1965. Currently, we have generated $23,546 toward the scholarship fund. To those of you who have given, we extend a big thank you!
One of the traditions of past 50 year reunions is induction into the Golden Guard. Our class of 1965 will be no exception. This ceremony takes place at lunch on Friday, October 2, where each member of the class receives a medallion featuring the seal of Pacific University, from President Lesley M. Hallick. Following lunch, our class will march to Old College Hall, where a sidewalk square is removed and filled with wet concrete. Alumni will sign their names in the concrete, emblematic of their becoming a new member of the Golden Guard and signifying a place in history.
We look forward to seeing you at Homecoming 2015, a landmark year for the Class of 1965.
