Occupational Therapy Students Present Capstones
Doctoral students in the School of Occupational Therapy are presenting senior capstones this month.
Students have conducted research into school-based practice of occupational therapy, fieldwork experience for occupational therapists in acute trauma settings, and athletic coaching models to cope with player behavior.
The breadth of the projects reflects a professional practice with a wide range of applications. Occupational therapists help people adapt to their worlds and do the things they want to do — be it independent living, work, or play. Occupational therapists work in business and industry, community-based programs, health agencies, hospitals, schools, and rehabilitation centers.
Pacific was one of the first occupational therapy schools in the country to transition from a master’s to doctorate program, and the students presenting their capstones this month will be among the second class of OTD graduates this summer.
Pacific’s doctoral program begins with two years on the Hillsboro Campus, where students study in an interprofessional setting and gain real-world experience through integrated fieldwork opportunities. The third year of the program takes place through a distance-based learning model heavily focused on clinical fieldwork.
The application deadline is Jan. 13 to begin the doctoral program in August. Apply today!
