New Alumni Chapter Proposed for ‘Ohana on the Mainland
A new Alumni Association chapter has been proposed by alumni from Hawai‘i who currently live on the mainland. The proposed mission of this group will be to deepen the engagement of alumni and students from Hawai‘i in a lifelong relationship with Pacific University and to further the welfare of Pacific University.
This chapter will seek representation on the Alumni Association Board of Representatives at the next meeting, current scheduled for March 21.
In the meantime, the group has some great unofficial activities planned, including a gathering at Boxer Nation Celebration before the Homecoming football game.
Gary Pacarro ’74, director of the Hawai‘i Office, extends this invitation for ‘Ohana on the mainland:
"I really love coming back to campus at Homecoming. These past couple of years the campus energy has just been infectious. The spirit is amplified and magnified during this one special weekend. There is always lots going on at the Boxer Tailgate Zone which starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until the start of the game. The football game is exciting, the student section is jumpin’ and now we even have a new covered roof on our the newly named Hanson Stadium.
"We are also going to have our own Boxer ‘Ohana Tent as we look kick off our chapter of the ‘Ohana on the mainland. Please join us as we gear up for our 55th Lu‘au in April. There’ll be music, drawings for tickets for the game and an opportunity to connect with old friends and make new ones.
"Got to check it out if you haven’t been back the 'Grove' in a while.
}Tell your fellow Hawaiians, bring a friend. Hope to see you there."
