A Message From Vice President Mark Ankeny

Faculty and Staff,

Robin KeillorI am writing to inform you that Dr. Robin Keillor, director of our Student Counseling Center, has accepted a position at Portland Community College as the director of Counseling Services. In this role she will oversee the Counseling Centers on the four PCC campuses, and collaborate with the Behavioral Intervention Teams, crisis intervention teams, develop programming for faculty and staff around classroom mental health concerns, develop community partnerships, and consult regarding Title IX. Though we will miss her expertise at Pacific, Robin has the breadth and depth of experience to lead this expanded portfolio of responsibilities. Please join me in congratulating Robin as she begins this new role in January 2019.

Robin arrived at Pacific in August 2002, initially serving in a joint position as a psychologist in our Student Counseling Center and as a faculty member of the School of Professional Psychology (now Graduate Psychology). Robin was asked to step in as interim director of Counseling in January 2006 and named the director that March. I very much appreciate her service to our students over the past 16 years and leadership of the Student Counseling Center over the past 13.

During her tenure, university enrollment has increased from 2,414 students when she started at Pacific, to nearly 4,000 today. In spite of this rapid growth, Robin has effectively led the SCC to provide comprehensive counseling service to students on the Forest Grove and Hillsboro campuses, and has championed the development of our Wellness Center and been an important member of our Title IX team. We will miss her expertise.

Laura StallingsAs a result of Robin’s departure, I have named Dr. Laura Stallings as interim director of the Student Counseling Center. Laura joined Pacific in August 2015 as a psychologist resident in the center, and was selected to continue as a staff psychologist after completing her residency. Her primary role has been to provide individual and group therapy to our diverse undergraduate and graduate students, provide leadership as the coordinator for practicum training, serve as a liaison to Campus Wellness, and focus on suicide prevention efforts.

Laura is a licensed psychologist who holds a PsyD in clinical psychology with a concentration in traumatic stress studies from Adler University in Chicago. Her clinical specializations and interests include working in university counseling centers with students who have been impacted by interpersonal violence and other forms of trauma, grief and loss, and intersecting cultural identity development. She also has a strong passion and commitment to social justice and equity, providing consultation and outreach to our campus community, and effectively responding to the systemic mental health needs of university communities that have been impacted by mass trauma.

Please join me in congratulating Robin on her years of service to Pacific, and welcoming Laura as interim director.
