In Memory: Ora Faye (Wilson) Thogerson ’49
Ora Faye (Wilson) Thogerson ’49 died Dec. 8, 2018, at age 97, surrounded by her children. Raised in Battleground, Wash., she met and married her high school sweetheart. They moved to Forest Grove after her husband’s service in WWII to attend Pacific together. Upon graduation they remained in Forest Grove where they both taught at the local high school. She quit teaching to raise their children, and later became one of Pacific’s journalism professors. She was also the Veterans Service Officer for Washington County for seven years before retiring. She was active in many government, civic, and fraternal organizations in Forest Grove and Washington County. She served on the city budget committee, planning commission, and the city council in Forest Grove, and many other service boards in Washington County. She was involved in the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), an international women’s organization that provides educational opportunities for female students worldwide; and League of Women Voters. She enjoyed Bridge club, book club, and church activities. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Arnold. She is survived by her children, Jan (and Tom) Gist and Neil; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
