In Memory: Joan Proctor
Joan Louise Proctor, wife of the late Freeman Proctor ’62, OD ’63, died Oct. 5, 2017, at age 85. She spent most of her childhood traveling the Northwest until her family settled in Washington, where she met her future husband, Freeman, who was in the Coast Guard at the time. They married soon after he was out of the service and moved to Forest Grove. The couple lived in the college dorms while Freeman attended Pacific’s College of Optometry. They moved to Redmond, Ore., in 1963 where he opened his practice. She worked there part time while raising three kids and being heavily involved in the community. In retirement, she enjoyed estate sales, her garden, her precious Scottie dogs, their beautiful home in Powell Butte, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings. She is survived by her children, Greg (and Edie), Patrick, and Kathleen Curtis; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and friend, Larry Conrad.
