In Memory: James "Jim" R. Williams ’63, OD ‘64
James "Jim" R. Williams ’63, OD ’64, died Jan. 16, 2022, at age 82. Raised in Butte, Mont., he attended the University of Montana in Missoula then earned his doctor of optometry from Pacific. He started his practice in Manhattan, Mont., then moved to Bozeman, Mont., where he formed Optometric Associates with his colleague, Bob Hawks ’63, OD ’66. He retired in 2001 but continued to provide bookkeeping expertise for more than a decade. In 1964, he married Anne Shipley, and they raised two children before divorcing in 1989. In 2011, he met Linda Schell, and they enjoyed traveling and sharing time for the rest of his life. He was a serious golfer who loved the PGA Tour and an avid black and white photographer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Florence Williams; brother Lee Williams; daughter Amanda Lee; and nephew Tom. He is survived by his brother, Bob (and Peggy); sister-in-law Carrie; six nieces and nephews; his ex-wife, Anne; son Scott (and Denise); and his partner of 11 years, Linda Schell.
