In Memory: Edward Knauf ’57
Edward Knauf ’57 died July 14, 2018, at age 82, surrounded by his family and friends in St. Petersburg, Fla. He attended Pacific, where he was president of the Phi Beta Tau fraternity and where he also met his future wife, Marilyn (Gould) ’58. They married and raised four children together. He served in the National Guard Reserves for six years before beginning his career working in the family optical business. He worked at several other places including Warner-Chilcott, Van Waters & Rogers, Scientific Supply & Equipment, and Port of Portland (Ore.). He and Marilyn traveled widely both before and after retirement, enjoying time in Europe, Asia and Central America. He battled cancer for two decades with grace, humor and a strong will to live. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dawn; and brother-in-law, Michael. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn; children, Diana (and Bjorn), Allie and Christopher; brother, Richard (and Jeannette); seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; longtime friend, Don (and Yolanda) Whipple; and an extended family.
