In Memoriam: Philip McInerney ’81
Philip McInerney ’81 died June 16, 2022,2021, at age 62. He began his education at Sacred Heart Academy in Tillamook, where he met life-long friends, Sean Dooher and Matt Hogland. After graduating from Tillamook High School, he attended Pacific University where he majored in physical education.
A career selling lumber and other building materials led him to Hawai’i. McInerney was a talented piano player and a gifted songwriter, publishing The Limbic Highway (Our Galactic Connection).
Despite a successful career, he was forced to take medical retirement due to complications from diabetes. He was devoted to family and helped care for his father and cared full-time for his mother after retiring from PBM in Hawai’i. McInerney was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Tillamook and a member of HooHoo, a fraternal and service organization involved in forest products.
McInerney was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence; and brother Fred. He is survived by his mother, Mathou (Marie); brother Richard; sister Colette; nephews Adam and Andrew; and former brother-in-law James.
