In Memoriam: Gary E. Eudaily OD ’67
Gary E. Eudaily OD ’67 died Oct. 22, 2022, at age 80. Born in Butte, Mont., to Doris and Ralph Eudaily, he moved in the 1950s to Missoula, Mont., where he grew up a champion Little Leaguer and went on to pitch for the University of Montana Grizzlies. He became an avid hunter and fisherman at an early age, climbing many mountains with friends, though his greatest hunting and fishing pal was always his father. His love for the great outdoors never waned, and in his later years, he had many stories to tell from trips into nature.
He earned his doctor of optometry degree from Pacific University in 1967. The experience provided him not only a career, but lifelong friendships. He practiced optometry in Missoula for 33 years. He became involved with The Mendelssohn Club, the school board, and many various outdoors groups. He raised two sons as a dedicated single parent. His life became defined by scouting trips, youth sports, and various band and choir recitals.
Eudaily is survived by his sons, Sean and Mike (Jennifer); grandson, Jameson; sister, Gloria (Walt) Volland; nephews, Kirk (Michelle) Volland, and Greg (Melissa) Volland; and his great-nephews, Alec, Kevin, Miller, & Mitchell Volland.
