In Memoriam: Frank Medeiros ’67
Frank Medeiros ’67 died Jan. 12, 2022, at age 76 at his home in Holtville, Calif. Medeiros was born Nov. 23, 1945, in Watsonville, Calif. and lived there until he began college, which initiated his lifelong relationship with education and culminated with a PhD from Stanford University.
His career in the California State University system began in 1973 at San Francisco State University. He later served as vice president of Academic Affairs at the San Diego State University main campus for nearly 20 years. He subsequently served as the associate vice chancellor in Long Beach prior to finishing his career in the classroom as a professor and masters student advisor at the SDSU campus in Calexico. His impact on education in the Imperial Valley is extensive, having mentored and advised dozens of current administrators and teachers during his time as a professor.
Anyone who sat in his class was awed by his wisdom and professionalism, and the notion that he could pass on his knowledge to positively influence countless others made him very proud. He valued his role in the family as his ultimate achievement. All those whose life he touched will forever honor his love and the generosity of his spirit.
Medeiros was a husband to his wife, Elizabeth; a father to his children, Roland, Aimee, Daniel, Isabel, Monica, and Cynthia; and a grandfather to 16 grandchildren.
