In Memoriam: Dorine Smith ’46
Dorine (Foelker) Smith ’46 died Sept. 26, 2021, at age 96. She attended Pacific University and the prestigious San Francisco Conservatory of Music on a full vocal scholarship. In 1942, she served as a war bonds model and won Miss Washington County in the Miss Oregon Pageant. Later, Smith sang on one of the first live music programs on KGW radio. After World War II, she married Don Smith ’49. They raised five children and spent 74 years together.
Smith was preceded in death by her husband; her three brothers, Don Foelker ’44, Bill Foelker ’44 and Walt Foelker ’51; and daughter Nancy Smith. She is survived by her children, Craig Smith, Debbie (Smith) Mosley, Lori (Smith) Oliver and Thad Smith, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
