In Memoriam: Dolores M. Holzgang ’54
Dolores Holzgang ’54 died Sept. 23, 2021, at age 89. She was born in Seattle, Wash., to Percy O. Kidder and Leila Rose Kidder on Sept. 27, 1931. Dolores was 6 years old when her mother passed away, and she moved to Klamath Falls to live with her grandmother. She continued to live in Klamath Falls until 2018, when she and her husband, Louis, moved to the Woodside Senior Living in Springfield, Ore.
Holzgang attended Klamath Union High School, where she developed a love of music. After graduating from KUHS in 1950, she attended Pacific University, receiving a music scholarship to play the oboe. In 1954, she married Louis Holzgang ’54, her high school sweetheart. The couple was inseparable for 67 years before they both passed away in 2021. Dolores Holzgang also had a successful career at Pacific Power, where she worked until she retired in 1990.
Holzgang grew up with a love for camping and hiking. She found support in Camp Fire Girls, and remained an active volunteer for many years. She was a loving, caring, and giving mother and offered her love to family and friends unconditionally. Even with a full-time job, she always made time to attend her sons' school events and especially enjoyed the school music programs.
