In Memoriam: Dean Warren Stovall ’52, OD ’53

Dean Warren Stovall ’52, OD ’53 died May 27, 2022, at age 95 in Sacramento, Calif. He was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Great Falls, Mont.

Stovall served in the Navy during WWII for 14 months and was designated as an optician assistant. He had a lengthy optometry career working mainly in Rancho Cordova and Sacramento Calif., retiring 15 years ago at age 80. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and playing bridge with his wife and friends at the Foothill Community Center.

Stovall is survived by his wife of 37 years, E. Joyce Gordon-Stovall; children, Mark (and Nancy) Stovall, Shelby (and Brian) Vagg and Megan Stovall; three stepdaughters, Pamela Gordon, Cynthi (and Greg) Smith, and Lea Ann Gordon; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
