In Memoriam: Dean Robinson ’61
Dean Robinson OD ’61 died Dec. 7, 2021, at age 87. A high school baseball and basketball star, he received a full scholarship to attend Santa Clara University, where he was an athlete and participated in ROTC. After college, he served in the U.S. Army, posted mostly at Fort Lewis in Washington and rising to the rank of first lieutenant. After leaving the Army, he earned his doctor of optometry degree from Pacific, then moved back to California, where he practiced in Lodi for 32 years. He also served as president of the Lodi Kiwanis Club, on the Lodi Planning Commission and was a charter member of the Lodi Booster of Boys Sports. He was inducted into the Lodi Sports Hall of Fame in 1983. He married his high school sweetheart in 1956 and they spent 65 years together. He is survived by his wife, Janet; his sons, Kirk (and Lisa) Robinson and Mark (and Stephanie) Robinson; and five grandchildren.
