Lorne Yudcovitch OD ’96, MS ’97 Recognized as Distinguished University Professor
Lorne Yudcovitch OD ’96, MS ’97 was named Distinguished University Professor.
Yudcovitch is lead instructor of Pacific University's ocular therapeutics course and most ocular disease courses, as well as ocular disease clinic attending doctor, and is chief of the medical eye/ocular disease service for the Pacific University College of Optometry.
He joined the university in 2001 and is also a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.
Students praise Dr. “Y” for his ability to deliver complex material in a meaningful and insightful manner. Colleagues respect his commitment to the profession.
In 2021, Yudcovitch received the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association Advocacy Award for his advocacy before Oregon Lawmakers to allow optometrists to perform certain laser procedures.
Dr. Yudcovitch is also a musician and filmmaker. His 2007 music documentary Fighting in Sunshine: The Untold Story of Banood won the Best Documentary award at the Everglades International Film Festival, South Africa.
He became a Pacific University Teaching Fellow in 1997, earned his doctor of optometry in 1996, and earned his bachelor of science in 1990 from the University of Calgary in Canada.
