Kathryn Bell Named Director of School of Healthcare Administration & Leadership
I am pleased to announce that Kathryn Bell, EdD, has agreed to assume the role of director of the School of Healthcare Administration and Leadership, effective July 1, 2022.
Dr. Bell joined Pacific University as a full-time faculty member in August 2010 in the School of Dental Hygiene Studies. She began serving as associate dean for Interprofessional Education in 2018, and was appointed as the founding program director of the Doctor of Science Program in 2021.
Katie has served in a variety of leadership roles at the university, including Faculty Senate Chair, Chair of the Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPEP) Committee, Chair of the Interprofessional Education Steering Committee (IPESC), Chair of the University Personnel Committee, and CHP faculty chair.
Katie has taught many continuing education courses, both at Pacific University, and at local and national conferences. She has published widely on a variety of topics. Her research interests include interprofessional education, issues in graduate education, and issues impacting the dental hygiene scope of practice. Katie has been an active member in the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, the American Dental Education Association, and Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions. She currently serves on the Interprofessional Task Force at ASAHP. She is a member of Sigma Phi Alpha, the national dental hygiene honor society, holding alumni membership in the Xi chapter.
Dr. Bell received her Doctor of Education (2021) from Northeastern University, a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene Education (2010) from the University of North Carolina, and a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene (2006) from the University of North Carolina.
Dr. Bell will continue in her role as associate dean of Interprofessional Education for the College of Health Professions and also serves as the Clinic Director for the Pacific Interprofessional Clinic. Please join me in congratulating Katie on her new appointment.
