Joseph Balash '02

Joseph “Joe” Balash ’02 was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the Department of the Interior's Assistant Secretary of Land and Minerals Management. A former Alaska natural resources commissioner, he was nominated by President Trump for this role. He now heads the Department of the Interior’s management of all federal lands and waters and their associated mineral and non-mineral resources, as well as the regulation of surface coal mining.
