Jose Alcantara Ruiz ’21: Sigma Phi Alpha National Dental Hygiene Honor Society Award
Jose Alcantara Ruiz ’21 received the Sigma Phi Alpha National Dental Hygiene Honor Society Award from the Pacific University School of Dental Hygiene Studies.
The Sigma Phi Alpha award recognizes a student who exemplifies scholarship, professional accomplishment and exemplary service in the field of dental hygiene. Fellow students Destyne Johnson ’21, Adair Pardi ’21 and Bethany Rivera ’21 also received the award.
Ruiz, of Portland, has worked in the front office at Glisan Dental Corporation for four years and earned his bachelor of science in dental hygiene, or BSDH, from Pacific University in August 2021.
The School of Dental Hygiene Studies offers a two-year bachelor’s degree that prepares future dental hygienists with a particular focus on interprofessional care and public health service.
