Faculty Input Requested on AI Literacy Library Curriculum Development
Pacific University faculty librarians Stephanie Brown and Jennifer Lantrip are hosting online sessions aimed at getting faculty input on the development of an AI literacy library instruction curriculum and toolkit to strengthen students’ AI literacy skills. Your input and collaboration is important and will help shape the development of this curriculum.
All faculty are invited to register for one of two Zoom sessions
As the use of AI is becoming more prevalent in higher education and in professional settings, Pacific University's Libraries are developing an AI literacy instruction curriculum and toolkit to help students learn to think critically about AI use and to use it ethically and effectively.
For those of you who are not familiar, librarians frequently partner with faculty across the University to embed information literacy or evidence-based practice (EBP) instruction within relevant courses. The AI literacy curriculum and toolkit would function in a similar manner — as they do with information literacy and EBP instruction, librarians would work with interested faculty to adapt it to specific courses or programs to address the specific tools and issues their students may encounter. We are planning to offer this instruction for the fall 2024 term.
We are currently at the beginning stages of this process and believe that faculty input and collaboration are essential since many of you are already researching and using AI tools and have firsthand knowledge of the issues and opportunities for your students related to AI.
