Emeritus Physics Faculty Member Establishes Endowment
W. Thomas Griffith, PhD taught physics at Pacific University for more than 36 years. Upon his retirement in 2003, he was awarded faculty emeritus status as a distinguished professor of physics.
As a testament to his enduring belief in higher education and research conducted by undergraduate students, he established this past December the Griffith, Fehrs and Brosing Summer Physics Research Endowment Fund at Pacific’s School of Natural Sciences. Further, the fund is named in honor of his long-time colleagues Mary Fehrs PhD (retired) and Juliet Brosing PhD, who were Griffith’s Physics Department colleagues for many years during his tenure.
Additional gifts are encouraged to the fund. Make a gift: Enter the amount of your gift. Select "Other" from the drop down "Designation" menu, and add the name of the fund: Griffith, Fehrs and Brosing Summer Physics Research Endowment Fund.
Similarly, a gift to the Department of Physics can also be designated to the following.
- Professor Juliet Brosing Endowed Scholarship. This fund provides tuition assistance to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Physics.
- School of Natural Sciences Enhancement Fund for Physics. Gifts to this fund enable the department to allocate dollars to the area of greatest need in the coming year.
