Elections Are Underway for Undergraduate Student Senate 2021-2022
The 2021-2022 Undergraduate Student Senate Election
The Undergraduate Student Senate (USS) is currently holding elections for the 2021-2022 academic year. Senator positions are open to all full-time, registered undergraduate students who have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and plan on attending Pacific University for the entire academic year. The USS serves as the official representative of the undergraduate student community. Its goal is to foster a spirit of unity and provide representation of Pacific University students.
Senate terms last one-year, officially beginning in August, with senators serving as observers after spring break. Senators may run for office each academic year — many senators serve on the USS for three years.
During the pandemic weekly meetings of the full senate have moved to Zoom Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. and are open to all students, along with two executive board meeting. Schedules and minutes from previous minutes are posted on the Undergraduate Student Senate page.
USS executive board member positions include president and vice president positions for campus betterment, communications, finance, and leadership. Check out the application for job descriptions, qualifications, and the full application process. Candidates need to gather 30 signatures as part of the application process.
Important dates
- Interested students must complete the application and return it to studentsenate@pacificu.edu by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021.
- Campaigning can begin on Tuesday, March 9.
- A candidate question and answer session will be held on Thursday, March 11.
- Elections will be held via online voting beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 16 and concluding at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 17.

- Restructuring a new financial budget to address not charging students an activity fee in the fall.
- Rethinking how to present a leadership conference and club fair totally online due to the pandemic.
- Presenting programs for both the BLM Movement and Election 2020.
