A new study raises awareness about the need for better prenatal healthcare and supports for women with disabilities. This research, from a Pacific University faculty member and an undergraduate student, looked at social media as a source of social support for pregnant women with disabilities.
Nathan Stanley '97, MAT '98 was hired as the new athletic director for Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego, Oregon. He was hired over the summer and in the process became the school's fourth athletic director in six years. Stanley is also the assistant principal at Lakeridge.  
Robert J. Fadhl '61, OD '62 peacefully passed away on July 22, 2019 in Surprise, AZ. Fadhl was 80.  Fadhl worked in an optical lab before receiving his doctorate of optometry from Pacific University in 1962. After graduating, he served in the Army Corps for 20 years. 
Robert DeCou '05 swam from the U.S. to Canada across the Strait of Juan de Fuca. DeCou's goal was to raise awareness and funds to help prevent human trafficking. He swam 31 miles in 17 hours, and made it within 670 feet of the Canadian shore. DeCou raised over $10,000 for human trafficking prevention efforts. 
Dr. Lynn A. Sulerud '76, OD '78 retired following 40 years of service. He was the co-founder of Blaine Eye Clinic in Blaine, MN.
P.K. Runkles-Pearson '98 was elected as chair of the Oregon Law Commission in September. Runkles-Pearson is a partner at the Miller Nash law firm in its Portland, Ore. office. She is the second chair of the Commission since its founding in in 1997.
