Destyne Johnson ’21: Sigma Phi Alpha National Dental Hygiene Honor Society Award

Destyne Johnson receives award at August commencementDestyne Johnson ’21 received the Sigma Phi Alpha National Dental Hygiene Honor Society Award from the Pacific University School of Dental Hygiene Studies.

The Sigma Phi Alpha award recognizes a student who exemplifies scholarship, professional accomplishment and exemplary service in the field of dental hygiene. Fellow student Jose Alcantara Ruiz ’21, Adair Pardi ‘21 and Bethany Rivera ’21 also received the award.

Johnson, who is from Salem, Ore., served as junior president for the Pacific University student chapter of the American Dental Hygienists Association. 

Johnson graduated from Pacific University in August 2021 with a bachelor of science in dental hygiene, or BSDH. 

The School of Dental Hygiene Studies offers a two-year bachelor’s degree that prepares future dental hygienists with a particular focus on interprofessional care and public health service.
